When you select a Windows 10 user account photo, it'll appear on the login screen, the Start menu, and various other places in Windows. If you don't want to have a profile photo at all, you'll need to replace it with something else, such as the default profile icon (an outline of a person). Once you replace the photo, you can delete your old profile photos. This wikiHow will teach you how to reset your Windows 10 user account photo to the default profile icon and delete your old profile photos.
At Windows login screen you can see a list of user accounts with a small picture next to each one. Actually, the same account picture is also shown at the top of the Start menu (or Start screen), and you can click it to log off and switch user accounts.
Is there a way to hide or remove the user picture at the login screen? How to disable the user account picture from the Start menu? Follow these steps and you can hide/remove current account picture completely in Windows 10/8:
When using a Microsoft account to sign-in, Windows 10 automatically uses your Microsoft account picture as user account picture on your PC. However, while using a local user account, you need to either use one of the default user account pictures or set your own.
Now, for some reason, you might want to get rid of old user account pictures from the page. You cannot simply right-click on these pictures and delete or remove them. Luckily, there is an easy way to remove old user account pictures in Windows 10.
I enabled Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\User Profiles\Delete User Profiles Older Than xxx GPO and apply to Windows 10 PCs. Dayes set to 90. Unfortunately, this didn't remove old data folders in C:\user. I checked the registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System was added the REG_DWORD I'm using Win 2019 domain and Win 10 client PC's. Can someone help me to fix this? The link which I use is -policy-how-to-automatically-delete-user-profiles-older-than-certain-number-of-days.aspx
Thank you for your valuable reply. I checked my environment, User profile data folder (C:\Users\abc) is older than 30 days (last modified date 18/02/2018) but NTUSER.DAT was recently updated. That is why GPO didn't remove old user profile from the PC. When i check the user profile sign-in tab, user profile modified the same as NTUSER.DAT date. The same day windows update was installed.
This seems to be ok - only one thing which is the account ive been logging in with including numerous times today has updated the timestamp to a date two days earlier..All other profiles accurate. I can see updated timestamps and that the GPO is applied in gpresult /r but the profiles arent being removed. I only have a 1 day period set as running against a test machine only any ideas what im missing here?
Use the Remove-UserPhoto cmdlet to delete the photo associated with a user's account. The user photo feature allows users to associate a picture with their account. User photos appear in on-premises and cloud-based client applications, such as Outlook on the web (formerly known as Outlook Web App or OWA), Lync, Skype for Business and SharePoint.
Use the Remove-UserPhoto cmdlet to delete the user photo currently associated with a user's account. This cmdlet removes the photo from user's Exchange mailbox root.In on-premises Exchange, it also removes the user's photo from their Active Directory account. Administrators can also use the Exchange admin center (EAC) to delete user photos by accessing the Options page in the user's mailbox in Outlook on the web.
Under Profile List in the left pane, there are the subkeys, by clicking on which we need to detect the ProfileImagePath string value linked to the deleted user profile. Once we locate the required ProfileImagePath in the right windowpane, we need to remove it from the list.
3- You will find that even if you have removed the user account picture, you still can see it with your account. If you do not want to see your pictures on your user account, you can set it to the default picture.
This account settings panel is available under the new Settings window of Windows 10 (Win + I). Although, it will not create any problem if you have multiple pictures stored as display picture for your account, yet, you may be distracted by having so many images. If you are getting any kind of issues and want to remove all those unused profile pictures, here is a solution.
One of the best security features in Windows 10 is the ability to add multiple user accounts. If multiple people use the same computer, setting up different user accounts is the best way to keep each user's files and other information, such as saved login info, private.
But if there comes a point when you want to delete a user, either because they don't need it anymore or you want to block their access, deleting a user account from a Windows 10 PC is simple, as long as you're using an Administrator account.
A user profile collects user settings and information for the associated user account. On the other hand, a user account is your point of entry into Windows 10. It is formed during the installation of Windows, and you can sign in to your PC with a user account and create several user accounts inside.
As a result, when you restart Windows 10, you won't be able to log into the system as the files associated with your old User Account have been removed. To resolve this issue, you'll need to recreate a new user account, bearing the loss of your files. Or, you can refer to the solutions provided in this guide to effectively bring the User Profile back.
There are no reason to keep the previously used images if you have no plan to use them again, especially for privacy purpose. Windows operating system does not provide an easy way to delete the account picture history. If you prefer to remove those old user avatar images, use the following trick to delete the previous used user pictures.
I hope this post will be very useful for those who wish to remove their account pictures get back their default account picture. Sometimes while sharing the system I become quite uncomfortable when others look into my account picture. And not to face any such awkward moment I decided to get back to the default account picture. I request my readers to share this piece of knowledge with everyone who needs them because in the end Sharing is Caring!
In this article, we will see how to delete a profile for a user account without deleting the account itself. This will allow you to reset all preferences and settings for all apps and Windows for a specific user.
Sometimes you don't need to delete account. For example you only want to reset all preferences and settings for all apps and Windows for a specific user but you don't want to create account again and give any permissions or add user in groups. It can save your time.
If you are trying to keep the local data from the profile, doing this guide backwards will be the trick. Start by deleting the registry profile folder. Then rename the users profile to user.old like someone has suggested up above. Log into the account for the user folder to be recreated. Migrate any files from the user.old. I've found that if you start with step one, deleting the profile also deletes the users folder and all their data.
Steps 6-8 were still very useful to me.The user would take 60+ minutes to login after providing credentials. At first I was thinking some GPO was not applying, but all was good there.I tried navigating to the user the usual way, under advanced system settings, but even from a different account this would make the machine freeze up. So I couldn't remove them that way. The profile was corrupted in some way that I couldn't even bring up 'user profiles' under advanced system settings.Clearing the user out of the registry did the trick though, I had him login again and it didn't take 5 seconds.
If you have administrator credentials, you can change these properties for any user account. You can also change the account type from Administrator to Standard User (provided that at least one Administrator account remains on the computer) or vice versa.
All types of user accounts are visible in the Family & Other Users pane. However, the processes for managing family accounts and non-family accounts differ, so we cover them separately in the following sections to avoid confusion.
When you first add a user account, it is identified in lists by its email address or by the name you give it. You can change the user account name (and delete user accounts) from the Users node of the Computer Management console.
If the email account is already registered as a Microsoft account, click Confirm on the Add this person? page to add the person to your family group and create a user account for him or her on the computer.
To change the full name that appears in the user account lists, double-click the account name to open the Properties dialog box. Then enter or update the name in the Full name box, and click Apply or OK to make the change.
