Most of the time, this kind of issue is caused by the Android software and not the camera itself. The first troubleshoot you can do to prove this issue is by restarting the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+. Just switch it off and let it sit for a couple of seconds. Then turn it back on and launch the camera app to see if the error message still exists. Since the characterized system files have been reloaded after a restart, the error should now be gone. If not, continue to the next solution. Once the system files are reloaded, the error will go away. If not, keep reading.

If your phone is displaying a "Camera Failed" message, freezing, lagging, or the preview is not working, the good news is that it's most likely a software issue and not a physical problem with the camera.
I took the phone in and as expected it had a defective camera module. The problem has now been resolved, and I recommend anyone experiencing similar issues should take it in asap. It appears like this is not a totally uncommon issue which is kind of a bummer considering the price tag for this phone.

The dual-aperture camera setup on the Galaxy S9 is one of the unique features it has over the other flagships, and it certainly has caught the eye of many. Now your Samsung Galaxy should have updated camera firmware. This might not completely fix the frame rate issue, but it will help. This should also prevent your recordings from just straight-away crashing during a capture.
I had done this camera firmware update in froyo and notices some interesting things. 1. After rebooting my phone(samsung vibrant which is unrooted), the colors on the screen appears more vibrant than before.2. The phone feels even after faster than the improvements from the froyo update. Running linpack gave me MFLOPS readings in the 10s range from the 8s in the Eclair revision and now its in the 13s MFLOPS range.
