Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings is a real-time strategy video game developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft. Hey guys!Following problem. I bought this game to play multiplayer against my friends. When i start a Multiplayer-Game, the FPS drops from about 500FPS to constantly 14-15. If I start a game offline, i can play with 500FPS. Each friend playing with me have the same issue while they´re in the same game as i am. Funny fact, if I start a Multiplayergame and disconnect my wifi adapter, the FPS jumps up to 500FPS and when i connect it again I get my 15FPS again. I have no idea what to do anymore.
Same problem. I tried the reddit solution and it works, BUT freezes for like 0.1 seconds every time you select a building or military unit (not villagers lol).Also, the longer gets the game, worse performance you get. Almost unplayable. I don't know if this is related or not with this solution for multiplayer though. (The freezing problem aparently is related, acording to my offline testing)
One thing you may find interesting is that multiplayer seems to works fine between 2 m1 macs. I've played several games locally, via 2 steam accounts with separate licenses of the game, without any problems whatsoever, but I just tried to play a friend the next state over and the game crashed with that "out of sync error" after about 10 seconds of play no matter what game settings were used.
I just published a CrossTie for this game that will go live tomorrow. In our testing, it seems to make multiplayer work well, but it's possible that it doesn't fully fix the issue. I'd appreciate hearing if anyone else has any luck :)
I just reinstalled the game via a fresh bottle, and was just able to successfully play two multiplayer games in a row without the out of sync issue. One game was hosted by me, the other hosted by someone else (not sure if this distinction matters these days). I am on a Macbook Air M1.

Not every mission is a winner, but even when the execution is a bit off, there's usually still an interesting hook or twist, or even just an unusual map layout, that makes it memorable.
Since the beta ended, there haven't been many opportunities for multiplayer. There's multiplayer lobbies, ranked matchmaking, spectating and leaderboards, with regional servers instead of a peer-to-peer system, and it seemed to be working fine during the beta, but the real test will be when everyone can start playing on November 14. There's still a lively Age of Empires 2 community that plays the HD version, so hopefully it will migrate over and keep the lobby browser full. I'll be playing at launch, so I'll report any multiplayer woes if there are any.
